My Story
Scentsy began in 2004. My Scentsy journey began in May of 2008, when I went to visit my friend, Candace, in her home. I had been in the fragrance world since 1998 and I thought she was using one of the candles she had purchased from me in my then "current" fragrance company. Her house smelled amazing. She showed me her Scentsy warmer and said, "This is why my house smells so incredible. I can leave it on as long or as little as I want, and I can change the scent depending on the season, the time of day, or my mood. I'm sorry I 'cheated' on you, but this is the REAL deal! I put the warmer to the test while I was at her home, smelled the scents she had purchased and even had her show me how to change out the wax and was blown away by its potency and safety. I was instantly hooked! -
TWO DAYS LATER, I went to a local "Dog Days" event and came upon a Scentsy Consultant with a small booth. I asked a few questions, walked around the park, and went home and joined THAT night!
What I haven't mentioned thus far is that one of my students had recently caught a doggy bandana on fire as she was waving it around too close to a candle I had sold her mom for their dog grooming shop and instinctively dropped it and caught the counter on fire. Everyone was fine, the fire was detected immediately by grandma and put out but when they shared the story with me the following Monday, it shook me. I HAD SOLD THAT CANDLE TO THEM. Was the action of waving the bandana my fault? Of course not, but I sold a product that potentially was not safe. ME. I DID. I couldn't wrap my head around another accident like that but I wanted to remain in my fragrance loving world and I KNEW this was the answer!
Selling something I'm passionate about comes easy to me, you see, I don't sell Scentsy, I SHARE how amazing it is and people want to be a part of that! What an opportunity! The timing in my life was perfect - I was in a job that ended up relocating to Florida in November and I was laid off. Scentsy afforded me to help survive that lay-off until I found a "Corporate America Job". My short term goal was: Replace all the candles in our house with a product that was safe for children and pets, sell Scentsy and make the $99 back I spent on my starter-kit and at least I wouldn't feel like I wasted $99 if it never went anywhere and if no one liked a "candle with a bulb and a few cubes of wax"! I never joined Scentsy with the intention of a Wickless Candle changing my whole life!
And then, things with Scentsy started happening...Almost FIFTEEN years later, I am a Scentsy Star Director, the second to highest title you can achieve with Scentsy!
Because of Scentsy, I have traveled to Salt Lake City, Denver, Fort Worth, Las Vegas (twice), Cancun, Mexico, Indianapolis, St. Louis,
Nashville, Kansas City, MO, California, Spain, France, and Italy! Needless to say, Scentsy has made me quite the World Traveler!
Scentsy has afforded opportunities for me that I wouldn't have had otherwise. THIS doesn't even include incentive trips to Canada, Walt Disney World, Greece, Punta Cana and AFRICA to name a few! I am FULL-TIME with Scentsy, and have been since 2010, all while doing something that doesn't feel like work!
I LOVE this company, I love my friend Candace, who, was my first recruit and first Director and while she is no longer here with us in this Earthly World, is still a part of our Team that I love, and I most love my customers like you that have become friends!
